How International Image/Video Search Works

There’s a famous saying that ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’. This is most relevant now to the domain of web search, where, in recent years, users everywhere are gravitating more towards consuming visual media for a quick and concise view of information. With this being a global phenomenon, it’s important that we enable users to find the information they’re seeking and that’s contextually relevant to them given any language they choose to express themselves in. In this talk, we’ll chat about what are key considerations for international image/video search, where language agnostic vs. language specific aspects help, and how deep learning is leveraged, more specifically how both text and media embeddings with vector-based search are used, to find the best image/video content to delight users.
